Detailed HVAC System Explanation
I was looking to get an idea and understanding of what’s happening in the trade as far as changing a furnace and AC to a heat pump. HVAC Gurus were the only company that was more than happy to host me in their shop and show me their training room, which included a furnace, an A/C, and a heat pump system next to it. They even had a hybrid (gas and heat pump) setup, which I didn’t know about. Simon was very detailed and explained the difference between the two options as far as heating/cooling operating, sound level, efficiency, and overall comfort. I did not hire them yet, but wow, I was impressed with their operation and how organized the shop was.

Excellent Interaction with Rafael
Rafael met us at our temporary home to discuss the HVAC system for our home which is being built. He was very pleasant to interact with and listened to our confusing system requirements very attentively. To confirm understanding, he would reiterate what we told him our system requirements were and then offered very insightful and useful feedback. We gladly made a follow-up appointment to meet at the property in a few weeks once the framing was more complete. We have not purchased any system from HVAC Gurus yet, but we are very happy with the interaction thus far.
Rafael met us several weeks later at the property being built even though the framing was not quite complete. He discussed in detail our requirements for the heat pump HVAC and the heat pump water heater for the ADU and the associated routing of the ducting and water pipes including optimum suggested locations for the condenser, air handler, and water heater. He agreed to return again once the main house framing is more complete.
When told our general contractor would likely install the ducting and water pipes, he had no issues with quoting/supplying just the HVAC and water heater units themselves. He did say he could meet with our general contractor to ensure we design the register location and zonings/routings appropriately.
We were very happy with the interaction again and look forward to meeting with him again when the main house framing is complete.

I had two houses with 40-year-old heating systems. Had new heat pump systems with heating and air conditioning and new ducts installed in both. Joel did the installation on one house and Elmer on the other. In one house switched from furnace in the garage, under house ducts, and vents in floor to unit in the attic, ducts in attic, and vents near ceiling. Everything went smoothly and with almost no disruption to the household. We even got an extended lesson on how to operate the new thermostats. Pleased with the work at both houses.

HVAC Gurus replaced our existing old furnace and air conditioning with a new Daikin FIT heat pump! I collected a ton of quotes from contractors in San Jose, and Ritchard from HVAC Gurus was the only one who had experience with heat pumps—all the others strongly encouraged a traditional system. HVAC Gurus was able to install a 17 SEER variable-speed heat pump for a similar price (and in one case cheaper) than the other guys could install the traditional furnace/AC combo! After signing, the crew was on site within ONE WEEK to start the install and finished in two days. Joel, Ernesto, Sergio, Gerber, and Robert were all very patient with me and eager to address concerns. During my self-inspection, I noticed a few issues. Lior, the owner, personally guaranteed the work and insisted that I should not pay anything until everything was resolved to my satisfaction. All issues were addressed the same day. Priya from the back office was able to schedule a permit inspection with the city super fast (typically inspections are booked out for months right now) and it went off without a hitch. Highly recommend this company. My AC is working great!
